Invitation Letter
Esteemed Participants,

I proudly acquaint you with the fourth edition of UFRGS Model United Nations, which will take place from the 31st of October to the 4th of November, 2006.

Six organs of the UN, chaired by UFRGS students, shall be simulated in Porto Alegre this year: the Social Cultural and Humanitarian Committee, the Special Political and Decolonization Committee, the UN Security Council, the UN Conference on Trade and Development, the International Court of Justice and, in a novel experience, a Historical Meeting of the UN Security Council. UFRGSMUN 2006 is already working once again with Pace University, from New York City, USA, and further information on this year’s Partnership will soon be available.

Amongst others, one of the keen purposes of a Model UN is to place students in the United Nations environment in order to make them conscious of how deep are the direct and indirect impacts of UN actions in our lives. Besides of consisting of a great opportunity for students to gather ideas, as well as of bringing people conscience, a Model UN entails changes: new perceptions, new or renewed aspirations. It entails new globals actions patterns. And that is UFRGSMUN: a simulation of the UN that, by discussions that enable students to understand the role of international institutions and international actors, aims at the pursuit of innovative formulas for reinvigorating the UN and the principles enshrined in the UN Charter.

Bearing that in mind, our Staff has been restlessly working to offer you an enriching experience in the academic and personal extents. All the information about UFRGSMUN can be found in this very website, but if you need more or have any doubt, it will be a tremendous pleasure to help you!

Thence, on behalf of our Staff, I shall invite you to join us in the UFRGSMUN experience of permanently seeking formulas for change.

For any question, you may reach me at diego.canabarro@ufrgs.br

Sincerelly yours,

Diego Rafael Canabarro
Secretary-General
